It’s only Toyota who went deep into hydrogen. Even then they have 1 model, the Mirai, which is horseshit even without taking the infrastructure problem into account (which should absolutely be taken into account). They sold like dozens. It was a fairly transparent anti-EV deflection. None of the other OEMs made serious foray into the tech, though some did pay it lip service (for the same reasons).

Also importantly, hydrogen doesn’t suit Japan any better than anywhere else. They have zero production capability and the import route is an oil exec’s fever dream

WW2 and other first half of the 20th century shit isn’t anywhere as far back in time as it feels it is.

As most of politics, it’s sadly less about actual plans than it is about messaging through catchy soundbites - something the Rs definitely do better. (none that they’d act on any of it) Ds have spent a whole lot of time appealing to constituencies that aren’t the working class, with messaging that doesn’t work for them.

But it’s not just that: Ds have materially failed the working class. They can screech all the want about “the economy” having gotten better under Biden, they’re talking about the stock market, which is entirely immaterial to people who can’t even save. What is material to them is “non-core” inflation (aka food and gas - it really takes an economist to come up with such a stupid label), which has gone up real bad. And many still remember Obama as having betrayed them by bailing out the banks on their backs, and working hard to save all that rot as status quo.

Yes, D policy would very obviously be better (long term), but a whole lot of working class voters don’t trust that to be the case.

J’ai fait un décompte à la main des triangulaires avec le RN en tête, sur la base des intentions de désistement qu’on a actuellement. Parce que j’ai rien de mieux à faire. C’est sur la base de 293 circonscriptions avec le RN en tête (eww). Il manque encore des depouillages mais ça ira pas beaucoup plus haut.

Je compte 116 triangulaires où sauf promesses pas tenues, il y aura désistement et 2eme+3ème place gagnent. Donc 116 sièges qui ne vont pas au RN. En plus de ça, je compte 23 triangulaires “pas claires”, principalement avec le LFI en 2 et centre en 3. Ça ferait donc, sur la bases des votes du premier tour avec report de voix automatique, entre 154 et 177 sièges pour le RN(&collabos).

Ça serait mieux que les projections à 200-280, déjà.

On est encore très loin de l’annonce de désistement, mais au moins c’est plus exactement du ni-ni…?
