I think foreign countries take advantage of free speech, free press and social media to influence voters in a specific direction. China is one of the major players of this game without any downsides because they have high censorship with domestic replacement apps. All of the popular western apps and sites are banned as well.

I’m not an American but I’ve lived in Washington for years. Every time an Ambulance is moving with its siren on, people move to the side of the road to let it pass. This guy is just inaccurate.

12·8 个月前Doesn’t matter if the teacher is an absolute gem and knows how to captivate kids who want to learn. Most kids prefer the dopamine hit from social media and other phone usage compared to actually learning. It just ruins it for kids who actually want to learn.

4·9 个月前Sodium ion batteries don’t have the energy density of lithium ion batteries. Yet. If they manage to mass produce energy dense sodium ion batteries, then yes, it would be amazing.

World News@lemmy.world•US asks countries to help lower soaring prices of eggsEnglish
42·9 个月前Maybe I’m uninformed in these things. But isn’t it super easy to get the supply of eggs increased domestically? Even in a country like India which almost has 1.5 billion people, I’ve never heard about a shortage of eggs.
I highly doubt his voters will ever realize it. People who voted for him have single digit IQs. Other Americans warned them before hand.
I’m a software engineer and GitHub Copilot as an AI pair programmer has vastly improved my productivity. Also, I use ChatGPT extensively to help with miscellaneous stuff. Apart from these two, I don’t really find other AI implementations useful.

151·9 个月前The problem is not they’re protecting a Tesla showroom. They should stop any and all possibilities of violence. That’s their job. The problem is that they wouldn’t show up for you or your neighborhood small business if they faced the same possibility of threat.
Reddit says they care about freedom of speech and liberal views. I realized a long time ago that their view of liberalism is to allow people who follow their narrative and ban people who don’t.
All I meant was flooding the market with Chinese cars isn’t a huge security threat to the country. There’s another alternative. European cars.
While technically true, that’s not what I meant. For example, Tesla Model 3 has AMD Ryzen chip. It is a full fledged computer CPU. Although my Toyota surely has a computer onboard, it’s nowhere close to this level of tech in the Tesla. EVs from China are at the same or higher level tech-wise compared to Teslas.
CCP has backdoor into every tech that comes out of China. It’s not about just privacy. They control democracies based on shaping narratives. They’ll utilize everything that democracy offers and use it against countries. They don’t have freedom of speech or press so they themselves are not victims of it. EVs are really just computers on the road. Flooding the market with Chinese EVs would just mean creating a massive free network on a foreign soil for them.
The other day someone posted in Canada community that Canada should stop using Tesla cars and import Chinese cars. I replied saying, “That’s like replacing one evil with another.” I was downvoted by a lot of people. I should’ve expected it cuz a lot of people have short term memory.
Wrong “gas”? Most Americans don’t know what gas is. They really have no clue that gas stands for gasoline and it’s a different petroleum product that diesel. The other day I saw someone arguing with another person for saying “Oxygen is a gas”. The American kept saying, “No, oxygen is what we breathe. Gas is what we fill in our car.”

43·9 个月前I think you’re unaware of the Chinese interference in Canada. By Chinese, I mean CCP. Assassinations, interference in elections, you name it. Just because they’re not vocally hostile like Trump and Musk doesn’t mean they’re not doing significant damage.

Don’t all social media and internet companies do that? It’s all a case of machine learning. I can’t open Insta these days without being blasted with reels of boobs, cleavage etc. My wife gets reels of cooking, dancing etc. It doesn’t have to do anything with our searches or viewing. They’re using our personal information to create a model and shoving targeted content based on that down our throats. This has the highest probability of increasing engagement on their platform.
