I don’t know if it hits all your needs but I switched to Deezer a couple of weeks ago and I really dig it.
Free trial month and absurdly easy to import all your stuff from spotify, so I’d just give it a shot and see if it scratches your itch!

I never thought I’d thank Danielle Smith for her service but…
(I really wish there was a picture meme format for Leory Jenkins, same energy.)
Thanks for sharing! I’m on my last tube of toothpaste and have been looking arouns at bulk options, for some reason just assumed sensodyne was American.
Much appreciated!
Like I said, it’s not universal yet but it’s still been huge for tens of thousands of parents.
Edit: Sorry, that was brusque. I just think starting a transformative national daycare program that looks solid however nascent, is pretty impressive. Between a pandemic, record inflation, land war in europe AND starting a transformative new dental health program, I personally am okay with solid beginnings for now. In ten years, if these programs hold and expand properly, I might find myself impressed with Trudeau’s legacy.
I had to double check that Monster cigarettes weren’t actually a thing.
He also started us on the $10 a day daycare. It’s not universal yet but that’s still huge for tens of thousands of families.
Gotta love that clean bill of health!
Sounds like a groovy time for both of you! A six lane road though?!? Are those common where you are? I can think of a handful that aren’t a highway in my city.
It’s been great thanks! Putting the (hopefully) finishing touches on a massive chunk of code for a work project. Also switched to Deezer (part of dropping all my American stuff) and found they have all the weird little folk punk my last few streaming services didn’t have.
May go swim some laps with a buddy tonight which is always a good preface to make the night’s beers feel earned. And then taking it easy cleaning and cooking tomorrow as my rec league soccer team finds ourselves in the Finals and Lord knows we’ve wanted these champion shirts for awhile. Strongest team I’ve ever played with, but it’s terrifying as I’m a decade older than most and not as good with the footwork but I’m still fast and play a mean/hard centre D role which is nerve wracking but fun as hell.
I mean, I really like the notion of training more tradespeople. Our lack thereof is a huge impediment to upping new home starts etc. But of course Polievre has to fuck it up and pair it with “and we’ll pay for it by gutting government.”
I hope Carney swipes the trades training thoughts from him and leaves him scrambling again just like the carbon tax.
Lol, approval led by Rasmussen which generally predicts California is an inch away from turning red.
Conservatives love their alternative reality.
Leisure Suit Larry has to be up there. No death, just lots of consequence free casual sex.
Products made in Canada would likely keep more money in Canada.
Corporate profits are usually a relatively small percentage of costs. If most of those costs are in Canada (capital for the factory, wages for labour and presumably somewhat more likely to involve Canadian goods) then yeah, operated in Canada should return more here.
I’d also use the Buy Beaver to check, someone may have done the homework and figured out the source for the manufacturing/ingredients.
A couple things that I’ve found: Going through all my apps, even the free ones. Checking whether the company is, at some end of the chain, American and if so, finding an alternative app.
Writing letters to my local stores, asking them either to improve their Canadian signage or about the availability of more Canadian goods.
The next one I’m starting is working out how to host a jellyfin server as I’ve made a deal with some of my non techy friends that if I can figure out how to host whatever they’re streaming, they’ll cancel the relevant American subscriptions.
Finally, trying to make un American or open source projects/environments/alternatives better, e.g., participating on Blue Sky or here.
Regardless, thanks for your efforts and keep up the good fight!
I’ve been using Buy Beaver. Not perfect as others have noted but the more Canadians help, the better it gets.
It’s a tough call. In my head,my ideal is obviously Canadian owned and made. After that, as long as one of those two conditions is satisfied, I consider it a medium win and then as long as it’s not American owned/made (any other country) minor win.
Honestly, with the score between our species, could you blame that cow?
I am Canadian and I still don’t know what the right words are.
I will say that as much as I despise Polievre, I don’t think he’s come close to the authoritarianism of maga.
For us, I personally think we’d do well to emphasise the breathtaking incompetence, consequences and hollowness of these mindless and easy populist slogans.
The court of public opinion just sees fascism as “Jews in ovens”, so maybe that court shouldn’t be considered.
That’s literally the only court that matters when you’re trying to warn the populace of something.
Ha, yeah that connection capability made me switch from Qobuz. (My receiver has an app that connects to Deezer, no such luck with Qobuz.)
And fully agree on the playlists, I’ve really dug a few already.
