CPUSA has a lot of baggage compared with PSL or FRSO which plays into the distaste I think. If it’s the only option in someone’s area then it’s better than not being organized, but it’s hard to understand why they’d be a committed communist’s first choice given their endorsements and campaigning for Biden

Votes in the last election are partially how it is being decided where to pursue getting signatures this cycle, so even writing in could help with data next go around. Nationals is being more selective in where they’re encouraging chapters to collect signatures to maximize the effectiveness of volunteers’ and members’ activities

Nationals has been looking at payoff for the work collecting signatures vs other activities of chapters and is only really encouraging a push for officially getting on the ballot if it seems like an easy time getting the necessary signatures. Even though it feels good to see PSL on the ballot we can all agree it’s purely symbolic and they will never be elected in the current climate. This does a good job tamping down the criticism that we’re too focused on electoralism too
