Agreed. Still waiting on a Black and White 2 spiritual sucessor, that game is still unmatched in its weird little genre. It definitely scratches a unique itch.
If you like ARPGs, I remember enjoying Untold Legends a lot as a kid. Was a PSP launch title, and had a very dark themeing. I don’t know if my kid memory can be trusted on the quality but I’ve seen a few other people recommend it on here so I doubt it’s bad.
This is very wholesome. I should really do the same or something similar in my field. It’s hard to recapture the magic when you are exhausted from work all the time.
Honestly since the original artist(s) left, I wasn’t interested in a follow-up anyway. A second disco Elysium without the same art and story direction would have little to no relation to the game that came before.
I only recognized this as Might & magic because I’ve watched too many Sseth videos.
Yo, I got a PSP as a kid and this game came with it. Very dark, an absolute trip of a game.
Definitely I would check out Grim Dawn and Last Epoch.
Grim Dawn is an insanely sprawling game with tons of class combinations and builds, made by the people who made titan quest. The graphics are dated as hell but it never stopped me from loving it. I also find the lore very fun.
Then there is Last Epoch, which is coming out on the 21st. I’ve been playing it for 3 years, even done some testing for them. Personally some of the more casual friendly things that you can’t find (like the crafting actually being amazing, seasons giving content to non-season characters, etc) just are unmatched and give the game a very good flow. It will be out in 1.0 in ~ a week and I definitely think it’s worth a glance because I find it is a great middle ground between diablo’s dumbed-downness and Path of Exile’s sweatiness.
I feel you. I’ve been sitting here with my pathfinder 2e books, hoping desperately to run a Strength of the Thousands game, but since I moved recently I’ve got no one nearby who even knows what DnD is, let alone pathfinder.
I want to do a game in person, since I enjoy it way more than online but at this point I might start looking at a foundry game or something in desperation.
If you can, make sure you open your blinds at night, especially if you usually keep them closed. Even just a modicum of extra light can help you wake up quicker.
Tbh, the only REAL tip I have is go to bed at like, 10 PM ish. I know that sucks ass but then you wake up to the sun in your window naturally and it’s a whole different experience.
Agreed, this is well written. It seems even more see obvious trump is a symptom because so many other trump-esque politicians are rising up and finding success across the globe in many other countries. Right-wing recessionism is really popular right now, but it’s mostly because the systems themselves seem largely without hope, and broken.
I think you should enjoy what you enjoy, OP. If it makes you happy you should try to get what you can from it.
I was a lot like young you when I was younger, I really liked Star wars and it was part of my personality. I read plenty of EU books and enjoyed them. When Disney took over, I had some hope, but I wasn’t a child anymore.
When they seemed to put out dumpster fire after dumpster fire, I decided that they only way to avoid being just another corporate sucker was to simply take my money elsewhere. Stop caring about the series entirely. And it honestly made me way happier, because I personally hate the idea of contributing monetarily to most of the things that I think are terrible, universe rending ideas more than I hate losing what I love. And I feel that removing that part of myself helped me to mature to other things (not saying that’s true of everyone).
I will still probably go back and read some of the old EU books again. I will go back and play KOTOR 2 again. But I don’t think I can ever enjoy a Disney era star wars piece of content and that’s fine, because I usually choose not to even speak about them at all or view them if possible, to avoid giving money for it, since it’s the only way for your voice to be heard.
You should enjoy what you enjoy, OP. But I think a lot of people see it as corporate enshittification of the entire franchise and the only way to win is not to pay/play.
P.S. I agree I am tired of seeing people shit on it endlessly, only because it proves that they can’t let go of something they now hate and move on. They’re angry that Disney took away a part of themselves but not angry enough to change their ways. It’s disappointing but a lot of people are like that.
Happy birthday! Thank you for everything you do. I love this instance deeply and I’m really happy you all are the ones in charge of it.
Absolutely Hi-Fi Rush. I loved many games this year, but Hi-Fi Rush was so fun, so wholesome, so loveable that the music it used carried me through some insanely hard times. It is very obviously a passion project made by incredible creators, and I legitimately cannot find a single issue with it (which I can’t say of any other game this year).
I still feel swells of emotion listening to the music from that game. Absolutely incredible.
The original Mount & Blade at an office max, I think? 5 dollar bargain bin game. I remember being blown away by the army combat in that game. The first one was so barebones but I still love that janky mess.
Honestly still one of my favorite shows, maybe my favorite ever. It can be campy and unrealistic sometimes, it stays within the realm of “I guess that’s possible” that you will still be curious about how they will beat the monster of the week. It’s a lot of fun.
I have played last epoch for hundreds of hours as well, and I will say I really enjoy it. It’s my go-to ARPG because the skill system feels so damn good. It isn’t the mess of nodes that PoE is, and it isn’t the very braindead level of skills that Diablo 3 had (haven’t played 4 because blizzard). Pretty much every skill has its own skill tree, and you can often make skills cast other skills or find awesome synergies and the game excels at giving you the power to make your own build and have it actually work.
Other notes, the crafting system is absolutely fantastic. You will end up crafting all the time, not just at endgame and it feels so good, and is very easy to understand without being braindead.
Most of the endgame content is great, but it just needs more and extra of it. They have a few dungeons that do different specific things, so you don’t necessarily go there to farm, you go there because you want some feature or thing that place has. It’s a really fun system.
I will say at 0.9.2 there are still some issues with multiplayer sync, so if you want to wait til 1.0 to play it with bros then understandable. What a fun game IMO though.
I agree with others, man. What’s the age difference? Because I understand someone being too young (I’m 28 and I’m not sure I could date someone under 24 for example). Just very curious! You never know
Tbh, me and at least 2 other people I know bounced off it hard, even after giving it multiple chances in 10+ hours of playing. Some people just aren’t jelling with it even with playtime.
I took some time off work and powered through it for old times’ sake.
I enjoyed it! It definitely dragged at points, and there were more than few questionable story decisions, but the combat content (especially in the latter half) was much stronger than previous expansions. The high-level dungeons are a lot of fun and will keep many players on their toes.
The new classes are…okay. viper seems overly confusing for what is a relatively easy class, and picto is mostly fine, if not a bit too easy.
