Formerly @Elevator7009@kbin.run, kbin.run died, moved here.
Checked, all LIs use he/him and a woman is playable.
Thanks for your elaboration! As you can probably guess I never looked at the equivalent Reddit communities, so I didn’t make my assumption off that, just off what I saw when I was first exploring https://ani.social—largely posts of anime women. Although I was aware “moe” can encompass things that don’t titillate as well as those that do, the presence of certain communities made me assume that the posts leaned more that way. I’m definitely not saying my assumptions are correct, as you have proven, but since you mod I thought you might want to know where my faulty assumptions came from.
I appreciate that you allow posts of other genders too! I am thinking back to when I posted a male tsundere on r/tsunderes forever ago and it died in New 😅
I am more the type to want to discuss specific anime fandoms I like than just general-purpose anime pictures, but I recognize the promotion of other communities and appreciate the work you are putting in to keep communities afloat/in the public eye :) Thank you for replying! I appreciate the effort.
Originally ignored all the Moe communities as a woman not romantically/sexually interested in my own gender. Saw this on Local, maybe I should check this community for outfit inspiration, that skirt caught my attention and I want it
Luna’s Twilight is a full-animation romance fantasy visual novel.
👀 interesting, animations instead of just character sprites is something I personally have not played a game with yet.
In a remote mansion, deep within a silent forest, four men from different races whisper words of love to you.
Okay this is probably different fantasy races but it just makes me think of a very stupid idea. One guy from the Tour de France, one from a marathon, one from a 100m, and one politician trying to get elected. I have no idea how you meet them all, maybe you are organizing a race? Maybe you’re an athlete competing against 3 of them and it’s an (inter)national event so the politician is just sort of there?
A warewolf raised in the depths of the forest.
Ooooouch, typo. Unless the wolf sells wares. Seeing stuff like this in the Steam page always makes me worry about attention to detail and/or localization quality.
A cast of wonderful characters; the dazzling director Hugo, the stoic accountant Serge, the Tsundere Performer Crier, the kind-hearted rabbit Lyon, the Reclusive Mechanic Luciole, and Emma’s special childhood friend, Arnaud
Inconsistent capitalization. Lmao what if “Tsundere Performer” and “Reclusive Mechanic” are actually part of their stage names?
Game sounds interesting, I might want to give this a shot!
So far, nobody has really grabbed me unfortunately. However, I really enjoyed playing Our Life, so I’ll give that points for route (I like to self-insert, I self-inserted most successfully here), and Geordo in My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! -Pirates of the Disturbance- wins most attractive looks-wise. He’s drawn more handsome in the game than in his anime incarnation in my opinion. And I think I’m learning that although possessive/jealous in real life is a turnoff, I really like it in fictional men. And Geordo is pretty jealous…
my favorite husbando is from Pokémon, that’s not otome, and the reason I started brainrotting over him is really quite personal so
no, it’s not N, but N giving a straight-up mathematics/basic probability lesson in Masters EX was charming and gave me a good laugh
I see the goblin.band comment, do you not?
Thank you for posting so much content, I really appreciate it.
Double checked, this does have romantic character routes with what appear to be just men, so it passes.
Oh wow. Hierarchy disruptions are always fun. Who was an underappreciated talent rightfully lifted up to play a role that they can knock out, whose head will this go to, who’s displaced and resentful and is that resentment justified or not, could they have done a better job and is that superior performance worth denying a learning experience to the new guy… wonder what the director’s reasoning for it is.
texting, calling and interacting with the LIs
Wonder if you can customize your response or not, and if these interactions are written more towards MC or not. I think MysMe may have popularized this but I wonder if they started it—who was the first? And I feel that format not really being for you. This might cross over to “too close to simulating an irl relationship” for me which I realize is a weird stance to take as a self-inserter.
Been very busy unfortunately, I plan to finish My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom -Pirates of the Disturbance- (posted about on these weekly threads a lot) and Band Camp Boyfriend (started last year, forced myself to take a break because I was just zooming through it because I liked it so much and that break ended up being so much longer than I expected) before Christmas. Will probably have time to play next week.
So there is an option to just look at subs and ignore local/federated/all like Lemmy? That is how I do it here
Thank you for helping :)
Found this on their rules:
This is especially important when marginalised people speak about their experiences of marginalisation. For example, if you are not BIPOC, don’t tell BIPOC to hide their experiences of racism behind CWs.
I have a feeling my need to not see this on social media funtime as opposed to my “stay informed” time, to not end up doomscrolling/stressed/despairing about the world will not be taken kindly, even though I am a POC myself, though not black or indigenous. Are you able to filter your content on that instance well enough to avoid politics and accounts of marginalization? I want to join but a lot of servers have some political post on the first ten posts, and I do not know too much about what options Mastodon has to filter content, or if I can restrict to people and hashtags I follow.
This is terrible for artist exposure but great for keeping my hands free of Facebook: I usually click and enlarge the image on Lemmy without ever touching the source link. But I do appreciate you attributing the source when the picture is not something you shot, I always thought that was appropriate netiquette. I link the source myself if I’m posting something I did not make. If it’s on some undesirable place like Facebook I add in a little “link goes to Facebook” warning if it isn’t just a plain URL where you can literally read the link is on Facebook.
Even if you don’t have an account, you may interact with or use Meta Products… We also receive information using cookies and similar technologies, like the Meta Pixel or Social Plugins, when you visit other websites and apps that use our Business Tools or other Meta Products.

So even though I don’t have an account myself, so many non-Facebook sites use their business tools, have that tracking Meta Pixel embedded that they have my data anyways. I am aware you might say “then why worry about going to their site, they have stuff on you anyways,” I don’t want to give them more and it is the principle of the thing. I’m not helping them by being another of your 300 friends on Facebook so you feel a tiny bit of additional pressure to give in and get one to stay in touch with people. This is probably why people don’t want to be infected with Facebook cooties.
One way I look at it, and that you might want to advise these people to look at it, is that they benefit from our data without paying us a cent. We benefit back by having you use their hosting to store the cute owl image so we can see it for free on Lemmy without having to go to their website. I remember storms being made about hotlinking awhile ago on the internet. Wikipedia says it’s also sometimes known as “bandwidth theft” or “leeching”. I am not an “eye for an eye” type but Facebook is a huge corporation, not a human being with feelings or human rights. Facebook leeches my data, I encourage people to leech their bandwidth :)
A lot of communities I participate in are thankfully drama-free but it is hard for me to forget there are mods because the person providing a lot of the content usually has a little M for Moderator next to their name ;-; I’m glad yours has enough participants that I assume that does not happen
I have noticed that the otome creators who are on the Fediverse are on Mastodon. I’m not going to give up on !otomegames@ani.social, I prefer threaded discussion to microblogging, especially because threaded discussion allows more characters per post. But I figure if I want to help grow otome on Fedi and show there are interested gamers here, maybe attract some otome players to post here instead of r/otomegames, maybe I should go where there are people. (And try to get them to post on !otomegames@ani.social!) I love r/otomegames, nice bunch of people, no hate, it is just… well… on Reddit. I came to Fedi to get off of Reddit. I applied on https://mstdn.games and am waiting for approval.
Still very grateful for the one person who is not me who makes posts on !otomegames@ani.social, they have their own communities that are pretty cool too! Check out theirs at !renpy@discuss.tchncs.de
I have found some OELVN otome that have MC actually treated decently! I also prefer people to be treated equally regardless of gender both in real life and in-game.
I actually often struggle to insert on blank slates because they act wildly different from me. Heroines with personality and a similar trait to one of mine are easier to insert on. I wonder if anyone else feels the same way about self-inserting or if blank slates are successful self-inserts for most people and I just have a really weird personality.
Heard of the Takarazuka Revue before, did not know it was all female. Maybe I should check it out. Especially since my favorite type of theatre is musical theatre!
I think I’m noticing a pattern where we tend to have pretty different interests, where you play games for the same reason I avoid them :P This is a good thing especially since you and I are basically the only posters—so we have more likes and dislikes represented than just that of the mod (me). I do try to post all otome regardless of my personal enjoyment, but I’m way more likely to know of ones I would enjoy, so…
I’m not playing this game because the rhythm game would drive me nuts (ironically I’m a musician). And although I’m on board with crossdressing in real life, the “MC pretends to be a guy” makes me instantly reject the game. My guess is because I usually try to self-insert to some degree and I feel my gender very strongly—being perceived as a dude is very much not something I am comfortable with, except online when you cannot see the human face, only the text. Or because if MC does not crossdress as a hobby of hers, as an active choice because she enjoys it, it usually promises some “girls are not allowed here” plot that has something to do with sexism and I don’t want that to be a plot element at all, even if the story is about overcoming sexism and breaking barriers. I’d probably be fine playing a crossdressing MC if it was only from a place of her personally enjoying it, and not from a place of having to do it to overcome some gender restriction.
It is a shame because I’m a huge theatre kid at heart. I am literally typing this to you the day after closing night of a play I was in. Drama school and the plot focusing on improving as an actor sounds very appealing to me.
I saw a few Mastodon posts you made about it, I’m glad you are having fun! What do you like about it so far?
You should probably tell !touhou@lemmy.world and !touhou@ani.social.
