162·3 days agoReligion has been used from time immemorial to manipulate the masses. It’s an incredibly effective method for transforming a normally content and peaceful populace into a ravenous horde that can then be pointed at anyone the regime wants defeated or otherwise out of the way. It doesn’t matter a hill of beans whether something is ‘true’. What matters is whether the populace can be made to believe that it’s true. Once that hurdle is overcome, a society can be manipulated into doing almost anything - as we have all clearly seen in recent events.
I mean, even ‘think with your head and not your heart’ is perfectly valid under certain circumstances. It just happens to be used generously by people who are trying to justify doing harm, that’s all.
Any person who has ever told me to ‘think with your head and not your heart’ has always - without exception - turned out to be a major asshole who does a lot of harm to themselves and those around them.
When someone reminds me of something I’ve completely forgotten about. It’s the worst feeling…
They would first have to prove that you were the one who did it. Good luck with that.

Them? You mean the ones who were doing all that revolting that you so idolize? Now, I’ll be the first to admit that our democracy isn’t perfect - far from it. But if you truly believe in what you’re espousing, why aren’t you out there starting the revolution? What are you doing to change things? What are you doing that is so much better than democracy? All I see is talk. And trying to get people to not vote, which is exactly the kind of talk that mysteriously crops up whenever there’s an important election on the horizon. Who benefits from people not voting? That’s a question you might want to give some serious thought to.
I did. It shows up just fine for me. How strange…
Which led to what? Voting. Democracy.
It was…the glaive! cue dramatic music Definitely worth a re-watch! :D
How did you get these ‘granted freedoms’ in the first place?

I understand what you’re saying, but calling people out just pisses them off and starts an argument that usually ends with both parties walking away swearing and namecalling over their shoulder (if things don’t get violent). At least that’s been my experience. Which is why I simply don’t engage, or at least try not to. It’s the same both online and offline, as far as I can tell.
