I got a quote for a heat pump and air handler (already have ductwork) for 24k, insanity.

Not really sure what to make of those comments. I love Not Just Bikes and have binge watched his videos lately, but I really do get the impression that the solution is everyone move to Amsterdam (which is not practical for so many reasons). I’ve recently discovered the channel “Shifter” and I find him to be more realistic about biking in North America, and a little more positive and recommends attainable solutions (more so than Strong Towns) for the individual.
Lucky! I love the cloudberry jam at Ikea, I bet they are wonderful!
Grass needs lots of water (resource that’s scarce in places), mowing (gas lawnmowers are big polluters), many companies use fertilizers and herbicides (fertilizers run off into the water system and herbicides are very harmful). But mostly grass is a monoculture and doesn’t support our native bees, butterflies, or birds which we rely on to pollinate our food crops. Grass is useful in areas with heavy foot traffic, but we grow way more of it than we really need.
My city got so upset about raising the pride flag that they banned ALL flags other than the American flag. I don’t understand how a flag can get people so crazy.
Looks great! It’s really satisfying to be able to mend your own clothes instead of immediately replacing them. I’ve looked into visible mending before which is amazing.
My city flew a pride flag once and our city council turned around and banned all flags other than the US and state flag. We used to fly many other flags for different heritage months and other reasons, but now they aren’t allowed because a few people found a rainbow flag offensive.
