Omg. Just 3 stitches? Are you serious? That one is so pretty too! And for free? This is ridiculous! Thanks for sharing. Will definitely try it out!
Thanks! I wouldn’t have thought of that. I’d have joined first and washed later. Makes sense that they’ll behave differently when washed though.
I don’t know. It takes a while to get organized but I have confidence that they’ll get there. At least based on what I’m seeing at the moment. Could obviously still just slowly die down again. Time will tell.
Don’t worry. I can do thin yarn with colour changes. Also wool is really easy to splice. I wouldn’t technically need to do it all in one go, though that would obviously be preferable. After all the warnings it definitely won’t be my first crochet project, so I still have time to get the yarn ready ;)
Wish I could take credit. I’ve seen it around and it just fits perfectly when it comes to all those tech bro’s and the way they are acting in relation to politics and power. It’s now just part of my vocabulary.
I love Pixelfed specifically because of the artsy, visual inspiration. I dearly miss browsing through my instragram feed and getting incredibly inspired by seeing people create amazing and beautiful things, including using techniques and crafts I had never even heard of before.
Pixelfed is starting to kind of be that for me, but Reddit did some of that too. Some of the most niche crafts even had their own subreddits. I just want to be able to be inspired by my social media feed again - ideally without algorithms aiming to get me stuck there. And without the broligarchy threatening to take it away at any moment.
Well caught! Are symbols in crochet universal? Or do they often differ per pattern?
Sure, but I still suspect that we’ll get a large influx of crafters and other artists that will be visible in Lemmy directly. Still very much excited
This is absolutely perfect! The crowd I am following on Pixelfed is pretty much exactly what I am still partially missing on Lemmy. So excited about this. Thanks for sharing!
Ooooh, now that’s a great idea. This works especially well because I spin my own wool yarn on a drop spindle. That means I often make rather small amounts of yarn at a time. Those should be just about enough for 1-2 of those squares. If I vary the thickness of the yarn for the different squares seaming is going to be a bit awkward, but I’ll get over it. Thanks!
Actually I spin yarn myself. Really need to get one of those little cards to measure width with though so I get the yarn right for whatever pattern I’m attempting. Thanks for reminding me that that is important. For me it won’t be more or less expensive necessarily. Just takes time to make, but so does any other yarn.
Fair enough. I mean this type of feedback is indeed exactly what I was asking for. I regularly try to give beginners reality checks in other crafts that I do have experience in and I figured I probably needed one of those ;) thanks for taking the time.
A mod actually responded to my Lemmy comment. So apparently the subreddit isn’t affiliated with this community here on Lemmy. But they do have something they are working on and are sharing this link https://witchesvspatriarchy.com/waitlist/
Do with that what you will. I am personally joining ALL of the options where the Reddit WvP might be moving and seeing which one feels the closest to home in the end. But my comment is remaining up on the subreddit so at least a few people will see it and can choose to check it out.
Makes a lot of sense. As the other commenter suggested I think I’ll work myself through the different stitches this project is tagged with one at a time. Might even find some with a lower difficulty on ravelry that I can get excited about while I’m on my way to learning enough to tackle this. Thanks!
Oooh, thank you. It’s also my first time on ravelry and I hadn’t noticed that it’s tagged with the stitch types. Makes a lot of sense to work through those first one after the other. Picking a challenging project I can get really excited about as my first project is usually something I have a surprising amount of success with with crafting, but I suspect this one is just too far out of reach for now. I’ll find some lower hanging fruit to get excited about to get me closer to knowing all the stitches required. Thanks again.
Looks like I finally got a Lemmy comment through to automod. The mods might still remove it though. We’ll see.
It doesn’t help that Tesla are also screwing over the people who buy them. I have heard so many horror stories of what happens when something in your Tesla breaks. Most of it sounds like purchasing a Tesla doesn’t mean that Tesla thinks you actually own that car. Lookup “Tesla right to repair” for just a taste of the mess.
Sadly a lot if not most of these changes will take generations to reverse. It’s the sad reality of things.
The main good thing I am taking from the news currently is that as far as I can tell the people won’t accept this for very long. Can’t quite yet tell how or what will happen, but I’d be surprised if the current regime are still in power in the same way 1-2 years from now. The protest are amping up at an intense speed, the videos coming out of the few republicans still giving town halls feel like the crowd is a pot about to boil over.
Honestly that is something I’ve always been ok with on Kickstarter. But it’s 50% scams now of people who never intended to deliver anything in the first place and Kickstarter is taking a lot of steps to protect the scammers in this. The only reason I ever back anything on there anymore is because of campaigns by companies I trust will at least try. I trust Pebble will try, so I personally am very tempted.
