  • Commercially standard is some hogwash you’re making up out of thin air. The language is “commercially available” which every single tool needed already is. Like I said that you completely ignored $30 gets every bit, pick, tweezer and suction cup needed. Every single guide calls for heat, yes, it is indeed a good idea, but it is absolutely not NECESSARY. Do you understand? You can take a readily, commercially available suction cup from a $20 kit from Amazon and remove screens (and therefore batteries) without using thermal energy.

So I’m sorry you don’t know what I’m talking about, but the bigger issue is you simply don’t know what you’re talking about.

  • You don’t. You’re highly likely going to go through some big psychological changes as you age that will probably cause perspective shifts about just who you are and what you want. And that’s biological. You’re going to experience other things that aren’t biological products that cause perspective shifts. You at 18 and you at 35 should be two fairly different people.

Hopefully you can find something that you continue to enjoy throughout life. If not it’s really not a big deal. Do what you have to, take opportunities given to you as they arise and you’ll probably end up somewhere you never expected. Work is work is work. Even if you love the field you can still hate work. It’s easier to make a change in career than to pigeonhole yourself into something that presents no way to diversify.

  • I think you’re right. They then quickly learned that it’s in their best interest to have a sealed system. Makes it cheaper to obtain higher IP ratings. Sells more devices. It obviously did nothing that hurt sales. Samsung is making an IP68 rated device with replaceable battery and still takes SD cards right now. It’s only $600 to boot making it handedly cheaper than flagships. So why isn’t it what everyone’s pointing at in these threads? Cause the majority of people, even in these very threads, aren’t buying it. These are not the factors that decided buying a phone. Otherwise removable batteries, SD cards and 3.5mm jacks would still be ubiquitous, but here we are.

  • I think they’re already complying. Tri-tip bits are already bought easily and affordably on Amazon. Same with suction cups, picks and tweezers. Literally $30 or less to get all of the above in one nifty carrying case. If you have suction cups then you can break the screen seal without using heat and let’s be honest, hair dryers are perfectly adequate for these repairs. It’s literally what I use for friends and family repairs that I do at home rather than in my workshop.

I think it’s a step in the right direction but not even remotely strong enough to force change on current cell phones.
