Cheaper isn’t always better. In fact, in this field of repairs, cheaper is NEVER better.
Vintage, Obsolete and other terms have existed for years, this isn’t new whatsoever. So what if they don’t want to do the battery? You’re confused, there are authorized and non-authorized repair centers. There’s also nothing proprietary about doing a battery. Do not confuse a battery replacement on a laptop for displays on a phone - they’re different.
All these batteries you find will only be online, you’re not gonna get it offline you have to order it bud. Or you can take it to a shop - they have to get the parts. That’s their problem not yours.

To be honest, if you can afford the other upgrades you should opt for 1TB. These machines last years and years, they’ll still be good in 2030 (which is just over 6 years from now). 512GB should be the base storage for these Pro devices, you never know what you’re going to do in the future. It’s always better to have more and be able to use it than to need it down the road for special projects, savings a family member from losing all their items or anything really.
