Let’s say I speak out of experience. My income sat right on the line and found out that we had a lot better healthcare options with private insurance because so few medical offices wanted to take Medicaid. Those that did were much lower in quality. If I moved to a state that expanded Medicaid, I’d be thrown back into it, and I don’t want that to happen. I’m sincerely better off with something else. That’s why I know so much about Medicaid vs. Obamacare for families that are above poverty but not wealthy.

  • The roots were more substantial. The political leadership in Moscow took offense when their religious leaders in Kiev (Kiev was the religious capital of their brand of Orthodoxy) went to the Council of Florence and agreed to union with the Catholic Church. Corrupt secular leadership in Moscow feared accountability to anyone so they deposed the Metropolitan (a type of bishop) of Kiev and then ordered the bishops of Moscow to elect their own patriarch. That’s how it got started. And the Russian Orthodox are insane. Many go so far as to say that the Catholic Church has no valid sacraments at all. They frequently get in the way of restoration of union between Rome and other Eastern Orthodox but I feel like we’ve hit a break point where others in the east have had enough. It is time to say “NO” to Moscow. Your political organization masquerading as a religion has done enough harm. Go to the pits of hell where you belong.

People on Medicaid are more likely to utilize emergency room services because they have access to fewer providers and have zero incentive to try lower cost services first. It is very reasonable that giving some of these people access to private insurance at very low or no cost will result in significant savings, even after insurer profits since they will be more likely to start with a doctor office visit or urgent care instead of emergency rooms. This should also free ER resources for more urgent medical cases.

Low income families that get booted from Medicaid will get nearly the same coverage from Obamacare.

    Examples:

Family of 4. Male, age 30. Female, age 30. Male, age 10. Female, age 10. Saline County, Kansas. Annual household income $32,500 (just over the poverty level). The cost of health insurance is zero and the maximum out of pocket for the entire family for the full year is $4k. Click here for a screenshot.

Second scenario, same information, except the household income is $40,000 (just below 125% of poverty). Click here for a screenshot. You may notice the rates are the same!

Third scenario, same information, except the household income is $48,000 (just below 150% of poverty). Click here for a screenshot. Still very affordable!
