We all know the stereotypical “Autistic people can’t be very empathetic” and “They have troubles communicating”

I’ve never been diagnosed with being on the spectrum. Yet my symptoms are an almost perfect fit.

With two exceptions; I think I am very empathetic. Too much even, if you ask me. I feel like I know what moves most people and that is a good reason for not wanting to bother with them.

The other one is being able to communicate well - more or less. But that might just be good training, I don’t know.

What are your thoughts?

EDIT: Typos.

You could check out the resources in Steven Hayes’ book A Liberated Mind. There are autism-specific resources there. At the same time, the tools that you will fins there are trans-diagnostic, meaning that you will benefit from them regardless of your diagnosis.

That said, it may serve you well to consult an expert. That very same book can help you contact one.
