The fact people think China controls Reddit and they are noble freedom fighters for posting Winnie the Pooh and social credit memes never ceases to give me a chuckle. Then make me sad as I realize that they legitimately believe that.
Redditors have openly celebrated the Nanjing massacre, and called for genocide and enslavement of Chinese people. Yet those subs are still up lol, how brave they are

In the US, it is illegal to possess or distribute child pornography, apparently because doing so will encourage people to sexually abuse children. This is absurd logic. Child pornography is not necessarily abuse. Even if it was, preventing the distribution or posession of the evidence won’t make the abuse go away. We don’t arrest everyone with videotapes of murders, or make it illegal for TV stations to show people being killed.
This logic doesnt work. Child pornography does not exist, because it is not pornography at all. It is documented abuse of children. It is an exploiting of power imbalance. It is confirmed by scienties, that this is abuse.
The distribution of such material doesnt make the abuse go away, yes. But it is still a form of abuse. Imagine how it is for the survivors, if someone documentated thir abuse and it is even still after years distributed and watched. This is a horrific feeling.
But saying, that this is the same as having a video, how someone is beeing killed, is stupid. People are also not being killed for videos. It is more a byproduct. Like, the russian mafia was killing someone and one of them took a video. But they didnt killt this person to make video.
But childrens are abused to make this video.
This person is stupid.
