As adjustments have to made regarding how this instance sends email, registration has been temporarily disabled. I can’t really estimate how long this will take. Today I also updated the FAQ.

EDIT 20.06.2023: The problem is now fixed and registrations are open again.

Koska sähköpostien lähettämiseen tällä instanssilla pitää tehdä säätämistä, rekisteröinti on tilapäisesti poissa käytöstä. En voi oikein arvioida kuinka pitkään tässä kestää. Tänään päivitin myös UKK:ta.

    For those interested in discussion here but not having an account yet can register to other instances such as Suppo for example.

    Keskustelusta kiinnostuneet, joilla ei ole vielä tiliä voivat rekisteröityä muille instansseille kuten esimerkiksi Suppoon.

      Menee vähän otsikosta ohi, mutta niinkuin nuoriso kuulemma sanoo niin slaidailin deeämmään eilettäin ongelmaan liittyen ja mistään käyttöliittymän uumenista en löydä historiaa että tuommoista olisin tehnyt. Lemmy ei alustana ole niin tuttu, niin arvelin nyt näin kommentin muodossa varmistaa että toimiiko tuo privaviestintä ollenkaan ja/tai että enkö vain osaa vai onko tuo toiminnallisuus vielä ns. vaiheessa?

      Yeah, transactional email service for password resets and message notifications isn’t free. I’m all for paying a few USD a month; paying that now saves future me the hassle of having to find a new instance to join if this one goes down due to lack of funds.

        one of the things I used to love about my something awful account was that it wasn’t free. It was $10 one-time, which is a pittance if you use it to any significant degree but it pays for stuff like automailers and other necessary admin shit and it raises the stakes of being a jerk.

          But forcing pay is not the way to make a platform grow. People will see a price on the internet and ignore it, unless something else (ad, suggesstion…) really tells you how good it is

            Also, payment systems are better these days but there are still a lot of people who would have the money but no way to transfer it for one reason or another.

            Some sort of good, free level of service is good to have in most cases.

      Thanks. As an upside, Lemmy is decentralized so anyone from other instances can participate in discussions here. Can’t imagine how stressed I would be, if this was a centralized platform.

                Are you able to get some income via ads or such? I am new to Lemmy so still figuring it out. Moving from third party Reddit app that had some ads. Add that I were not obtrusive but paid there developer for his time. Feel if you can’t monetize your services to some degree, will be difficult for people like you to maintain your servers as they grow so how there is some way to make it worth it.

    Thank you for running this instance! It seems Reddit is going to continue to “digg” their own grave (hehe) so the users are going to continue to increase. We’re definitely going to see another spike when they kill the API at the end of the month. As others have said, please setup a Patreon or something such so we can setup monthly donations. You’re running the server, we should be the ones paying for it AND your time!

      Liittyy sähköpostien lähettämiseen, niiden päätymiseen roskapostikansioon ja asian hoitavaan postfix-relayhyn. Tämä myös liittyy DNS:ään, DKIM-tietueeseen ja sen hitaaseen päivittämiseen.

      Hyvä puoli tässä toki on, että Lemmy on hajautettu alusta, ja keskusteluihin Sopulissa voi osallistua myös muiden instanssien kautta. Jos kyse olisi keskitetystä alustasta, en edes halua kuvitella kuinka paljon olisin silloin stressaantunut.

            xyz voi olla hankala TLD, olen lukenut että Google ja MS ainakin tuppaa herkästi laittamaan roskapostiin vaikka kaikki olisi muuten kunnossa.

            Homma varmasti hoituu, mutta mulla on kans kokemusta sähköpostipalvelimen pitämisestä, jos tarvitsee apuja.

              Ihmekös tuo, kun ovat niin halpoja. Ostin joskus vitsinä muutaman namecheapista noin 0.2€/vuosi.

    I registered 9 days ago and didn’t get the email. Today still no email so couldn’t log in, but password recovery worked! Thought I’d share if someone else is in the same boat and checks in here.

    e: Still couldn’t login because the email wasn’t verified. Changed my email in settings, got verified and now it works. (You can use the same email with a + alias like this: address@example.com -> address+whatever@example.com)
