Thousands of Americans have been killed when their cars slid under the trailers of large trucks. For decades, the Department of Transportation and trucking industry have rejected safety devices meant to prevent these underride crashes.

The news organizations will reveal explosive emails detailing how trucking industry officials pressured Department of Transportation regulators to alter a report that recommended a nationwide mandate for guards specifically designed to protect pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists. The guards are already used around the world and in several U.S. cities.

      in my city in Europe they are experimenting the last km by boat then bike. Well I’m quite sure the boat is probably furnished by trucks before, but it’s a progress i guess

      In Berlin I enjoyed watching the small delivery trucks rolling all over the place. A bunch of the mail is also delivered by trikes. They just pedal around the city doing mail delivery work on these large yellow trikes with big cargo bays. It was phenomenal, quiet, and calm.
