A user on our instance reported a post on lemmynsfw as CSAM. Upon seeing the post, I looked at the community it was part of, and immediately purged all traces of that community from our instance.

I approached the admins of lemmynsfw and they assured me that the models with content in the community were all verified as being over 18. The fact that the community is explicitly focused on making the models appear as if they’re not 18 was fine with them. The fact that both myself and one a member of this instance assumed it was CSAM, was fine with them. I was in fact told that I was body shaming.

I’m sorry for the lack of warning, but a community skirting the line trying to look like CSAM isn’t a line I’m willing to walk. I have defederated lemmynsfw and won’t be reinstating it whilst that community is active.

It was just a verified adult lady posting a pic of herself though in c/adorableporn. She looked a bit young ig?

I agree with the lemmynsfw admins here. A consenting adult shouldn’t be disallowed from posting cuz some people mistakenly think she looks too young.

Ig this sort of thing is inevitable with a decentralized model. But as the admin said, the beauty of the fediverse is that users can just use a different instance if they don’t agree.

It is a shame though that this is tainting the view of lemmynsfw for some people, as seen from your comment. It’s a very positive instance all in all.

In addition to the community that triggered this, lemmynsfw also still hosts a community with the explicit goal of showcasing models that look like “jailbait”.

I feel like that should be a bigger issue for how people perceive them than anything I’ve done

Yeah fauxbait’s name is weird, even if it is a term used in adult sites. But they’re only posting pics of models from, and clearly watermarked by, well known adult sites though, with a strict age verification rule for every post/model. Thinking that it “looks like jailbait” with all that is probably the most pessimistic way of looking at it - they’re just young looking adults.

I think most people coming across it would understand the admins’ indecision to ban a comm for a bad name. We don’t have a way to change a comm’s name in Lemmy yet.
