They don’t have much of an attacking build-up and rely on hoofball tactics. Defended well, blocked cutbacks and low crosses. Made strong(a.k.a foul) tackles to stop the ball getting into the attacking third.
We lacked attacking bite because for the majority of the game, Odegaard played deeper and Zinchenko didn’t start(hence minimal penetration in the final third). Although Takehiro did well as an overlapping LB, crosses were easy to defend for them.
Saka received the Saka treatment from their players as well as referees.
Didn’t see the match but will try and catch some highlights later.
From looks of comments around here we were experimenting, did it look like United were just playing to win or also using it as an experiment?
A united fan I know seemed rather smug about the victory so I have a feeling that they weren’t trying anything new
