Some excerpts in my attempt to play summary bot

District Judge Lewis Kaplan has said it multiple times: Donald Trump raped E. Jean Carroll in 1996. Kaplan wrote it in May 2023, when he presided over one of the trials against Trump. And he reminded jurors of the rape this week, during the latest proceedings in the multi-layered, winding rape and defamation cases brought against Trump by Carroll.

Good. It needs to be said because that’s clearly what he did by any sane person’s definition.

Fucking rapist fascist piece of shit ought to be behind bars for life for this rape, or any number of other crimes.

The jury found Trump liable for sexual assault and said he must pay $5 million—but they came short of saying he had raped her due to the legal scope of New York State’s penal code.

NY state law has a pretty narrow definition, is why.

… the same person could commit precisely the same crime and be charged with entirely different things based on the court room’s address. This dissonance deepens the complexities of trying to obtain justice for survivors.

Some states have disappointingly narrow definitions. Some have broader definitions. Some use terms other than rape. E.g. sexual battery.

Among the many other things this country needs to fix, it needs to update law for sexual assault / rape everywhere. Fucking disgusting how many never see justice.
