I find it difficult to agree that there were 50 games deserving of a “Top” list this year and TotK was certainly not even close to the best game of the year.
Also starfield and hogwarts legacy in the top 10, lmao. This is basically just the steam awards again (ie just a popularity contest)
Eurogamer readers vote
just a popularity contest
Just what it says on the tin then?
Well yeah, but you’d expect that eurogamer readers have played more than 2 games all year.
Harry potter and bethesda both have built in fanbases despite not being that relevant for the last decade-ish. I’m not very surprised they were able to make 7 and 8 on a top 50 list.
It absolutely was close to top of the list. It’s basically between bg3, totk, and Alan Wake. All wildly different games and personally I enjoy mechanics focused games so for me totk was the top, sure I’m not the only one
For real, how is totk better than bg3 from any point of view? It’s basically a rehash of botw with very little in terms of new ideas. Nintendo fanboyism is so lame.

Nah Baldurs Gate 3 set a new standard for an RPG. I’m sure the new Zelda was a fantastic game but I doubt a sequel for a Zelda game is gonna be as influential
TOTK feels like it has been forgotten about since launch, until the awards season started. It was a good game, but I wouldn’t count it as nearly as influential as BG3 or BOTW.
I’d swap 1 and 2 for me personally, but they’re both amazing games. Zelda got a little repetitive to me after a while. I didn’t want to put any more Legos together.
Totk is overrated as hell, I had so much more fun with any other game on the list
No Pizza Tower? Starfield on the list?!
“readers” lol
