So, um, I have this perfectly good, half-written fanfiction sort of just sitting around among my documents. Basically, it’s set in 2040, and after Hatsune Miku escaped into the real world with virtual Rick Astley (long story), Rick died, and she became sad. This quote explains it pretty well:
Anyways, this kid, Richard Ashley, is Rick’s reincarnation, and he has to win a singing competition to buy cancer medicine for his parents, so he’s pretty desperate to get Miku to teach him. Any thoughts?
edit: drew a cg
Thanks for taking time out of your day to help me with this!
Since virtual Rick isn’t the same as real rick, I felt it would detract from their relationship if he was real rick’s son. He’s desperate for her to teach him since he’s poor (AIs have mostly replaced singers by 2040), and she feels obliged to help him because virtual Rick died to save her.
That’s true. She’s not that old (30 or so?), but mostly lifestyle choices did her in. Although she still knows techniques and stuff.
Bad habit of mine, I like to use two synonyms consecutively to stress the point.
That sounds like a great idea! I’ve put some thought into it, but I don’t know if I have the motivation to finish two of these…
TIL in the recent updates if you upvote/downvote a comment before posting your reply, your reply’s gone forever. I had some things written for you, but I didn’t had it in my clipboard, so I’ll have to write it all over again…
I’ll be back with a response tomorrow.
@Jonathan12345@lemmygrad.ml so I’m back with a new reply, as I promised. Again, sorry about that earlier. ^^;
No worries! I like brainstorming ideas.
So how different is Virtual Rick from the Real Rick?
So will this be a story about how non-AI singers are still able to sing well and not to avoid/ignore them?
Lifestyle choices? So will there be an arc where Miku tries to “get a hold of herself” so she can be in better position to mentor Richard?
Well, I’d suggest you to focus on this story right now and write the prequel later down the line, maybe after this story is finished or you’re tired of writing this story for a while. In the meantime, you could note down ideas to include in the prequel, like I tend to do for my own writing projects haha.
Well, virtual Rick is kind of the embodiment of his ‘meme’ internet personality. I don’t know what the real Rick is like. He seems like a nice guy, but he could be a secret serial killer for all I know.
It’s not really the main focus, but yeah, that’s kind of true. A part of the reason these singing competitions arose was to give non-AI singers a small source of income, sort of like how artisans switched to selling novelty items after machinery replaced them. It’s not a permanent solution, though, although AI isn’t that far along yet.
That’s true. in the original half I wrote, I kind of skipped over most of the first parts to get to the actual competitions, so I’ll probably rewrite it.
Lol that seems true. My “write later” lists are almost as long as some people’s “read later” lists. I have “Danganronpa Fanfic” in progress, then “Hatsune Miku fanfic”, “danganronpa fanfic sequel”, “Miku prequel” etc…
