WINNER: SNOWY OWL 67-41

Snowy Owl had a good showing in its first round, winning out over the other black and white owl, the Black and white Owl. The equally large Great Horned Owl was defeated after a tough all day battle, so you have to question if it will be a liability for Snowy today. On the other hand, Snowy is a perennial favorite, and arguably one of the most beautiful owls according to quite a number of you. Will Snowy move on, or will it be relegated back to meme status until next year?

Short Eared Owl handily beat the out of this world looking Oriental Bay Owl in round 1. It’s adorable but devilish look probably has good crossover appeal with those also feverishly voting for the Goth Owl, Sooty. Like the Barn Owls, Shorty had picked up a variety of different looks around the world. A few are on display for you today, including the darker Galapagos variation. Will those little horns, round chubby face, and great color variations be enough to take down another of the top tier owls in this tournament?

Short eared owl is the only species I have somewhat successfully photographed. Helps that they hunt in the day sometimes!

But seriously I wish I was close enough for the long ears not to fit in frame

You should share the photo with us!

I like that they just sleep in a divot in the ground. I admire their minimalism.

Yup I’ll pop a couple of pics up in a bit although they are a bit amateur. My lemmy instance has been having issues uploading pics tho, so I’ll probably have to mess around a bit first 🤔

No worries. They cant be worse than half the pics I post that I take with my phone zoom maxed out! 😜

A decent enough owl pic is better than no owl pic I always say.
