Apple refuses to separate sound controls. Alarms, texts, system sounds, screenshot noises, camera shutter, call ringer are all attached.

Why can’t I turn off screenshot noises without risking missed calls, wtf why is this even a connected concern??

    Media

    Calls (including 3rd party)

    Messages (including 3rd party)

    Notifications

    Effects

All Apple needs is to separate these. It can’t be that difficult.

Definitely android does this better and i found it very annoying when I switched to iPhone this year

I can’t have the phone vibrate, but make no sound when I get a notification, without that affecting other system sounds?

Long past time for Apple to add this capability. Android has had it for ages. Samsung with Good Lock can even have app-specific audio settings.

It’s really baffling to (very deliberately) have no option in the camera app to turn off shutter sounds - as if it’s some kind of moral or legal requirement - but then allow you to turn it off globally via silent mode. It’s the single strangest UX decision on this thing.

Why don’t text message notifications automatically mute while I’m on a phone call? Why do I need my eardrum blown out by a text message ding while on a phone call?

Are posts with actual substance allowed here?

    Agreed.

For me its as simple as keeping the ringer on at night for emergencies, but turn off texts for my idiot friend who sends his ponderings while on the crapper at 6 am, central time.

I bought my first iPhone this year – the 15 Pro. I am considering switching over back to Samsung when their next flagship comes out, because iPhone is unsafe to use when not on mute. Each time I have gotten a Messenger notification while on call I had tinnitus in my ear for the next couple of minutes. I have set up an automation which lowers the ringer volume when I put on my airpods, but there is no automation possible to do the same when I pick up a call. I have submitted a bug report to Apple too. I just don’t want to get tinnitus every time someone texts me when I’m on a call.
