People seem to get hyped based on whatever they saw last game between these two. These conversations should include one huge aspect that the Bears will have at the top of their considerations which is $$$…

Lets say you stick with Fields. Clearly they will decline his 5th year and at best get him to play next year for a $6M cap hit. Then either you have to offer him a lot more or you’re back into the situation of “what’s the answer at QB?”

If you take Caleb you completely reset the clock and if he works out the possible 5th year option. Looking at Bryce Young’s contract for the #1 overall his cap hits are $6.9m this year then $8.6m, $10.3m, and finally $12m.

If Bears are #1 overall the long term cap benefits are absolutely going to come into play.
