    Similarly talking about Lenin’s anarchist brother or Young Stalin or Yuri Gagarin inevitably makes people like the USSR more on account of it seeming really cool and for cool people.

    I don’t like a hero cult, but there’s nothing wrong with admiring individuals.

        I’ve been listening to the A People’s History of Ideas podcast a lot. I didn’t know much about Mao or the Chinese revolution before, but that man’s life was an action movie.
