Besides camera quality and battery life
Once solid state batteries replace lithium ions in standard electronics, I’m pretty sure we’ll see a skyrocketing battery life
I’ve been playing with the new voice ChatGPT and thinking about how amazing an AI assistant that was fully ingrained in the hardware could be. Siri has that access but no where near the ability of ChatGPT.
If I could just ask Siri to write an email to my kids school saying that my daughter won’t be in on Friday, or take all the photos from the Christmas concert and put them in our family group chat that would be amazing.
ChatGPT now has a built in shortcut you can select for the Action Button which takes you directly to their chat bot.
I envision a future where the phone assistant has a personality and gets to know me over the years. It learns my preferences, how I want to receive information, can chat with me casually if I’m bored, will really become an extension of myself. I already use my phone hours and hours a day, it’s time it got smart and interacted back.
I’m a software developer. %100 at the moment Apple is cooking that ChatGPT-style Siri in-house. And better yet, it’ll almost certainly run locally, with all the Neural Engine cores it is putting in every product.
“Best iPhone ever” each year
A way for people to learn about what their phone can do. Most people I know don’t watch WWDC or the Apple Keynotes and won’t know about announced features unless they’re prominently featured in a commercial or a power user shows them.
I asked my dad (early 60s, fairly tech-savvy) to measure a box for me using the Measure app, which he wasn’t aware of. He’s been an iPhone user for a long time and upgrades every few years. Short of me telling him I doubt he would have found it. Same with AirDrop, Widgets, and shuffling/disabling his home screens. Shortcuts blew his mind.
iOS is more capable than ever but the intuitiveness that made iPhones great for the young and old alive has disappeared.
My volume only adjusts when Spotify is open half of the time… and Siri straight up doesn’t work. Like at all, she won’t do anything. Just says she can’t help with that.
Back button, separate app sound, lock screen not stopping apps, close all apps, clear ram option, ultra power saving mode (like samsung has), volume controls for notifications, system sounds, ringer in control center.
Things can always be improved
Predictive dialling
Since it has a an incredible, never seen before USBC and it’s made from titanium, it’s going to be hard to top that. Like how could I ever use a phone without titanium…
It should be easier to turn the volume down to very low.
There’s a lot of good suggestions and ideas here, but what I want is a selfie screen on the back of the phone near the camera module. A lot like the folding phones have. The iPhone has great cameras. Just give me that extra small screen to see myself and I’m happy.
I just look for my reflection in the lenses, so the simpler answer would be a little mirror in the bump, curved to match the field of view of the main camera.
I love the pixel I could never switch
I wanna be able to change my text background and bubble colours
Siri, faster animations (compared to android it is damn slow , mostly to hide the 60 hz on regular phones.)
Separate audio controls for phone and external devices ….
Have you tried reduce motion or what that setting was?
Reduce Motion is a bad feature because it doesn’t remove animations just replaces them with fade effects.
See what the new technology is on Androids and expect it in future generations
