“fans” on twatter think Holding belongs in the National League or something. He deserves a mid table prem club at least.

Holding would make a great defender for a mid or lower table team in the Prem. These “fans” are deluded and would have been happy selling Xhaka to Roma for 15m because he too is absolute shit (their words not mine).

These “fans” act like they know all there is to know about the game, and you would assume they are employed as a scout or manager by one of the biggest clubs in the world… And yet I’m sure they barely manage to tie their shoes.

This is one of the reasons I’m much happier on here that on our reddit equivalent. I haven’t seen any of those clueless “anyone but Mbappe or Messi is an insult to Arsenal fans” clowns on here. I know they would often get put in their place over there, but the fact they were so emboldened to spout that nonsense in the first place was annoying.

Simple fact is that we need to be realistic about our club. We are massive, but we can’t pump endless money into our squad. And even if we could, we shouldn’t. Our (relative) fiscal responsibility is a point of pride. And right now r have a phenomenal scouting and management system that is finding some amazing gems. Bringing in a massive name causes other problem, like destabilizing the entire squad.

And we need players like Rob Holding on our squad. Is he on the same level as Saliba or Gabriel? No. But he’s a pretty solid backup who is happy being a backup, who loves the club, and who does a ton of good on the changing room. And £2.5m is a fucking insult to both him and to us.

Same with Xhaka. Clearly a talented, very good player (who we had been playing out of position for years), and a leader. We moved him on at the right time and for a good price.

He looked good in that run he had against the likes of Leeds and Everton. We really hit problems when we got to Liverpool.
