i got this for only 5$, it seems it’s new according to HD Sentinel, i heard some people can ‘wipe’ the S.M.A.R.T data which will make it look like new? is it true?

Yes you can fairly easily reset SMART status, Seagate offers a tool for that purpose. Check the forum on hddguru.com for links.
