I’m looking at getting a series 9 as it’s a huge jump from my series 3, is it worth it getting cellular and paying the extra $200(AUD) I’m still at school and am frequently away from my locker and phone, but, will the Bluetooth connect range be enough for it to be viable?

I don’t know about the Apple Watch Series 9, but I’m currently using the Apple Watch Ultra and I really feel that signing up for LTE is worth it. 99% of the time I never have to use the LTE feature, but the remaining 1% is very valuable and necessary. There was a time when I went to work and forgot my phone at home, and that day I completely relied on the LTE feature of the watch to receive calls and notifications. However, I think you should also consider a bit, because my Apple Watch Ultra has a very good battery, so using LTE does not affect much, while the Apple Watch Series 9 version may not be able to use LTE as long.

I had cellular on my AW8. I like having it when I go out on a hike because I never take my phone and it gives me a way to be connected if I need to be. And then there were a couple of times where I forgot my phone at home and was still able to send messages, make a call, and stuff like that. It doesn’t get used all that often and maybe it’s not worth it but it sure is nice to have when you do need it.

Buy it nice or buy it twice. I always buy the cellular model Apple Watches. It’s nice to leave your phone behind at times and still have the ability to get phone calls and text.

My AW6 SS has cellular capability which I NEVER activated. And it’s only, maybe $10?? For me, there’s no scenario where I don’t have my phone. And when my phone has been upstairs and I’ve answered from my phone, it’s just awkward! Not going to do this in public. Others may have different lifestyles. Decide based on YOURS.

Depends on your use case, but I personally do not think it’s worth it, as I always have my phone on me. Even if I didn’t, I don’t see many scenarios where I’d need to use the watch functions.

Keep in mind you’ll need an additional cellular plan for the watch, and cellular connectivity is power hungry versus WiFi/bluetooth.
