Goff is really an interesting case of “how being a top 5 pick” works against you…

If he was selected at like 15-25 in the draft he’d be looked at like an elite pick. He’s had what 17-18 decent games in a row before today.

But since the expectation has always been set it feels like he’s a failure at times.

This is false. He’s looked like this because of his contract. After your first 5 years no one cares about which pick. Dak is criticized, cousins is criticized. It’s because they got top 5 qb contracts but couldn’t consistently win.

The hot takes for an 8-3 team that would be 9 and 2 without some fumbles or better play calling in the last 10 minutes.

1 fumble he got hit while throwing from his blindside. 1 fumble Decker got manhandled and Goff got crushed from his blindside and strip sacked. 1 fumble he was running and didn’t tuck the ball well.

The latter is all on him. The 2nd is 50/50, cause sometimes if you get completely blindsided as a qb sitting i. The pocket it’s tough to fully blame you for not holding on to the ball strong enough when you get killed without warning. And obviously arm getting hit while throwing isn’t like he did anything wrong
