Dopesmoker had one of the crappiest label fight histories ever. The label did not know what to do with an hour-long river of sludge, so they cut it up into 6 tracks. And you know, that changed nothing except it really pissed off the band. They seem to still be pissed off about it all these years later.

The first, 6-cut 1999 release of this work was called Jerusalem, and the band did not like it. They released Dopesmoker as a single long song in 2003 on a new label. There’s a lot of different versions out there, some of them from different source tapes. There have been widely available bootlegs, and 2 more official re-releases.
