Purchased an A1989 MacBook Pro back in 2019. Have been using it ever since as a daily driver. Noticed unusual colour gradients this morning as per the photo. Has my computer succumbed to the dreaded Flexgate issue?

Flexgate is a series of white spots along the bottom edge of the screen. Not like this.

Looks like it, contact apple support and see if your macbook is eligible for the repair program.

EDIT: A number of users suggested that this effect rises from the colour banding present within Apple’s wallpaper that comes prepackaged with MacOS Sonoma.

After capturing a screensnip, I can confirm that this effect is generated by the launchpad screen overlaying the colour banding in the wallpaper.
