That sucks. The motivations are clear, but these kinds of things can hurt innocent people. Something similar happened to a family I know post USSR breakup, they were made to leave the SSR they were living in and had to migrate (back?) to Russia. They weren’t facing persecution there, but it was obviously upsetting to them.

Not everyone is a KGB (FSB?) agent. Some are, but not all, and they do suffer.

So fucking stupid
