**Specs:**LS150 server32gb ram2-480gb SSDs configured in zfs(raid-1)

proxmox server with 2 vms running with ubuntu 20.04 server with apache2, and 1 ubuntu 22.04 container with pihole installed.

I can access pihole via web browser, but I can not set up router settings due to ISP having them locked out. I did have my own modem and router but my modem crapped out and I dont have the funds to replace it right now.

Is there a way to set up something in proxmox that lets me configure what I need to for piholke to work? Maybe a virtual router or dhcp? I am brand new to proxmox and have a few months of networking experience.

Also, I see in the docs you can manually configure each device to use pihole as their dns server, but id rather not do that if there is another option.

Techy solution: get a managed switch and configure DHCP snooping, only allow the port that connects your newly configured DHCP server which sets the DNS to your PiHole.

Just get your own router and use your ISP device in bridge mode. Most of them have that option. It makes things like DNS and port forwarding so much easier and allows you to do so much more, like wireguard VPN.

Does your ISP happen to be Xfinity/Comcast?

I wanted to do the same thing and found I was not able to do so on the modem.

That kick started my homelab adventure because I wanted more control over my home network, which I got all setup and is working the way I want it to…but then while I was working on figuring out port forwarding, I found that they moved that ability along with other stuff into the Xfinity app.
