Hey everyone, I was able to take home 2 of the above rack mount servers. I powered them up and hooked up a VGA cable to monitor (tested cable and monitor so I know both are good). I get nothing on the screen, the monitor falls asleep. These servers used to be behind Fl’s. They were basically shut down and now I have them (my work approved me taking these lol). Unfortunately, I do not have any of the IP information. I just purchased a RJ45 to USB connector to try and hook up to the management port on the back. Any suggestions on how to access? Before I took them home I did max them out with memory from other decommissioned nodes so I know the memory is compatible). I have 1.6TD SSD in slot one and 10 SAS 1.2TB in the rest. I read that maybe I need to change the node type? So that it can be accessed like a rack mount? I’m los and would love some advice! Thanks!

Nice servers! Hope you get them working - love my C240 M4 - although a bit noisier than the Dell R720 it replaced.

Be careful though - if you put non-Cisco parts (PCI-X boards, not the drives) in them they will run their fans at a much faster rate. Fortunately, genuine Cisco parts are relatively cheap on this retired hardware.

You can put them in a power efficient mode through the CIMC to keep the fan speed down a bit, which helps with the noise.
