I always get apple care at least for a few months whenever I buy a new device from Apple, for me it’s peace of mind in case something happens and I see as protecting my investment.

Generally they are built to last. But that doesn’t take into account theft loss or accidental damage which is why it’s worth it to me. At least for the first 12 months

Theft isn’t covered for MacBook AppleCare+, only iPhones. Got it anyway though, small price to pay for such an expensive machine.

i read around a lot the 1st week i got my MacBook pro last month and decided it was worth getting apple care + for this laptop… i previously had purchased apple care month to month for 2 of my phones and even my watch last year and never needed to use it so i was skeptical but… with something like this i find the peace of mind is worth it alone. especially after reading about so many amazing experience others have had with apple care +, seems its generally felt that apple care + is a great value for peace of mind or actual repairs if needed

You should get applecare+. Specially now that everything is soldered into the motherboard. Modern MacBooks usually randomly break or turn into a brick after a software update.

I don’t ever get Apple Care. I buy my computers with a credit card that doubles the warranty. So, they’re covered for 2 years. I’ve never had a Mac break but if it did happen after the 2 years I’d rather sell the old one for parts and buy a new one to get current technology. Over the years my wife and I have owned a dozen Apple laptops. We’ve never replaced one that was less than about 7 years old and we’ve always sold the old one, still working. So not buying Apple Care has saved us a ton. We are careful with our computers so I’m not particularly worried about dropping them. And we live in a low crime area so I’m not particularly worried about them being stolen.

It’s insurance. If you never need it, it’s money wasted. If you do need it, you’ll be happy to have it. Personally I have never needed AppleCare and I have been using Apple computers since the 90s.

Ask yourself what would happen if the computer was lost, broken, etc. If you can easily replace it, you probably don’t need to buy AppleCare. If the loss of your computer would represent a substantial financial hardship, the insurance is probably a good idea.

I believe that Apple Care protects you against physical damage rather than malfunctioning.

I didn’t get AppleCare for my 2017 MBP, and I wish I had. Bad battery, dodgy USB-C ports, casing that somehow dipped in the middle of the keyboard. The Battery replacement would have cost me £350+ alone.

Not making the mistake of not getting AppleCare again. Ordered a 16-inch M3 this week, and thanks to a generous 10% off Black Friday deal, that’s paid for 3 years of AppleCare.

Apple Care doesn’t cover liquid damage. Apple Care+ does. If you do consider it go for Apple Care+. I am glad I got it when I got my Macbook Pro. 8 months later accidental liquid damage at work. With Apple Care+ cost me 299$ without it 1700$. Everything got replaced and from start to finish the entire process took 48 hours. You never know what can happen no matter how careful you are. Is not always your fault. Accidents happen.

It comes with a 1-year limited warranty that covers hardware failure unrelated to physical damage (liquid, impact damage, etc.) My M1 Air that I’m typing on now had its logic board fail just a few weeks before the limited warranty expired. Was sitting on my lap and just went black randomly. Brought it to the Apple Store and they had it shipped out, repaired, and shipped back within three days, all at no cost to me. If it had happened a few weeks later, the repair would’ve cost $448. I added AppleCare to it after that.

So, if you take good care of your tech and are fairly confident you won’t damage it within the first year, you could take your chances with the limited warranty, then add AppleCare to extend the coverage after that. I think they let you add AppleCare up until the day the limited warranty expires. That was my experience anyway (and yes, I waited until the final day lol).
