I have huge respect for Bill and his legacy as a coach, but am curious on everyone’s thoughts regarding what will happen next season. Speculation seems to be that the Chargers are a likely landing spot.

That being said, does the utter failure of Bill’s coaching tree and closest disciples warrant any concern regarding Bill’s ability to succeed in a new system?

Seeing how many years Patricia, McDaniels, and O’Brian spent with Bill, and how horribly implementing the “Patriot Way” resulted naturally is a cause for concern.

Bill’s results as a head coach are irrefutable and will likely stand the test of time. That being said, was it lighting in a bottle matching a great coach who implemented a system and culture that allowed the greatest QB of all time to thrive, or was Bill truly a football mastermind who could replicate the same success at another team?

Interestingly, I’d argue (minus Brady) this Chargers offense would easily be the most talented squad Bill has ever had top to bottom. How do you think this will play out?

The true takeaway here is that the Patriot way revolved around Tom Brady more than anyone else realized. Not only his greatness, but his willingness to take a lower salary so he could have a supporting cast.

Folks will say Brady still had it when he retired, and maybe he did, but he would be condemned to early playoff exits and flawed teams like Brees, Peyton and Rodgers were if he didn’t have Bill.

It took 20 years for the Patriots to crumble into humiliating first round exits, it took the Bucs 3.

Brady was clearly past his best that last year.

But despite all the bad beats and bullshit the Bucs dealt with, Brady still went 8-8 and made the playoffs.

      That’s hardly crumbling…

If the Patriots are stupid enough to part ways with Belichick during or at the conclusion of this season, they deserve a fate worse than the Browns current situation with Watson.

Most of sports media is cancer.

I mean brady certainly helped belichick alot. But it’s hard to argue brady is 5 super Bowls worth better then peyton brees etc. Bill had a revolutionary team on defense for bradys first three super Bowls and pretty good offensive weapons for the last three. The rams sb is why I can’t buy bill being nothing without brady. Bill is simply a hof coach over the hill.

Closer look at the rams Super Bowl…

Belichick made one of the dumbest coaching moves of all time putting Gronk in at safety for the Miracle in Miami.

That forced Brady to go into arrowhead for the AFC title game with a past their best Edelman, Gronk and Hogan.

The fans blasted laser beams into his eyes, and he still dropped 40 and walked out a winner.

Not only was it a spectacular run that had the best QB and best coach of all time. But Bill instituted an organizational system that brought winning teams together in a variety of ways, maintaining winning with such turnover for so long is incredible. Different players, coaches, scouts, personnel directors. And he did this while losing 3, THREE, first round draft picks and having a low pick virtually every year. Belichick’s ability to build a defense and Brady’s ability to win with virtually any offense will never be seen again and neither of them are going to 9 SB in 20 years without the other.

Over the entirety of his career as a coach, he’s 82-98 in games without Brady.

Do with that information what you will.

The case can be made for every coach. It’s almost as if you are implying a coach is bad if they don’t have great QBs or something….

Lombardi probably isn’t Lombardi without Bart Starr, Noll without Bradshaw, Landry without Staubach, Walsh without Montana.

      I mean come on.

I’m not making any judgement with those numbers. On one hand, he has a losing record without Brady. On the other hand, he’s damn close to a winning record with mostly backup and washed QBs.

What’s his legacy if you don’t also account for the cheating scandals.

Still a tremendous coach, but not in a different stratosphere from the rest of the legacy coaches.
