It’s no secret that Myles Garret has been amazing this season. However when put into context his season only seems more impressive. He has had far fewer chances to sack the opposing quarterback than the other leading edge rushers.

Here you can see opposing teams only attempted 236 passes against Cleveland this season, which is by far the least in the league. The league average is about 319 attempts, but that includes teams that have played 10 games, while Cleveland has only played nine games so far. The league average is about 34 attempts per game, but Cleveland only sees about 26 attempts per game.

Added to this, Cleveland has managed to reduce the opposing teams time of possession under 25 minutes in 5 out of 9 games so far.

No one would say MG is not great, but it still feels like he’s underrated (if only bc he’s on a team that doesn’t get as much press as others). Like it’s already been said, (assuming most double teams are lost) he’s winning about half his one on one match ups. I feel like even if you adjusted for era averages (ie: bc OL are currently in a league wide slump the last decade), these past few years would still be an all-time level run by him.
