Apple wants no part of Google's addition of end to-end encryption to RCS, and the iPhone maker will instead work with the standards body to mandate a universal version instead.
It’s kinda funny that Apple is supporting the more open extension than the propietary extension
(Yes I know they would not want to use their competitor’s protocol, I’m just pointing it out at a surface level since Apple is typically depicted as being very proprietary and closed-source)

They’re very proprietary and closed-source with their own stuff. RCS is not their stuff.
