Noob question here.

I am running proxmox with few virtual machines. When I count together all the RAM allocated to the machines, it ends at 48GB.

However, the proxmox summary page reports 52.33GB used out of 64GB, even though 3 out of the 8 VMs are powered off completely and the rest is set for balooning memory and together end up at less than 40GB.

Is there something I am missing?

Depending on the size and type of disks you have you could manually set the max RAM it’s allowed to allocate for ZFS ARC. My Proxmox box has a RAIDZ1 of three 800gb SSDs, it didn’t need to be scoffing 48gb for ARC.
