Game of the Year - The Game Awards 2019 Best Action Game of 2019 - IGN Carve your own clever path to vengeance in the award winning adventure from developer FromSoftware, creators of Bloodborne and the Dark Souls series. Take Revenge. Restore Your Honor. Kill Ingeniously.
Get this game. It has the best gameplay from all FromSoftware games. Yeah some others maybe have a bit better map or a bit better lore, but Sekiro is a 10 out of 10 masterpiece. It’s a damn shame we never got DLC. I 100%ed it and it didn’t feel like a chore. Yet the game is pretty hard, but with the same “getting better by failing” learning mechanics, which is so encouraging.
It’s a good game but if you play it like it’s Dark Souls or Elden Ring trying to dodge, you will get chewed up, spit out and shit on. It’s basically a rhythm game with samurai swords
Yeah people should not go by muscle memory. Whenever you want to dodge like in their other games, use block instead, to parry. The time window is pretty generous.
It gives much more intense fights that way, compared to the rolling game of the other FromSoftware games.
It was my first fromsoftware game and it was way too hard for me at first. I installed a mod to make the game easier and boy it was a fantastic universe to discover (hidden lore, creatures, landscapes…). I may be down voted for installing such a mod tho.
Once I finished the game (too quickly because of the easy mode), I restarted the game to get other endings from scratch but this time without mod and it was amazing (and also incredible to see how I improved myself thanks to the easy mode).
It is still at this date one of the best game I played.
No downvote, I just think you robbed yourself from the experience. One of the greatest gaming experience there is. It’s like reading the ending of a masterpiece book first. Sometimes we got to endure resistance to feel even greater pleasure.
Well I still enjoyed my second run a lot and since I went for much more paths to get all the endings, but honestly before I installed the easy mod, I played for only 2 or 3 hours and put the game aside for a month because of the difficulty. It was only after I retried with the easy mod that I learned about the mechanics and only then was I able to improve myself until I didn’t need the mod anymore.
I understand your point of view tho, but I guess some people like me needs such mods in order for their eyes to open to such games. For the record, I was able to finish Elden Ring without any mods but it was indeed an easier game.
Anyone here played this? Thoughts?
