I’m sure there will be some. I was surprised to see that a lot of adults still discriminate based on being on android still. I thought most of us had grown up beyond that and that now it was mostly little pockets of teenagers making a big deal about it. I’d say if your friends discriminate against you for that reason then they aren’t your friends and if a potential partner does the same then they aren’t worth your time.

Do real people actually give a shit about this sort of thing? What adult “bullies” someone for their phone choice…? Sounds like absolute nonsensical garbage to me.

it’s real. just because you don’t experience it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

i don’t understand why this topic is so taboo in this sub. is everyone in this sub outside the US?

because in the US, if you don’t have iMessage you’re looked down upon. period.

i spent the last 3 weeks in europe and it was refreshing to see most people using a variety of android phones, i even saw some galaxy folds. i would love to live in a country where i could buy a phone from one of 10-15 diff companies that has diff features and be treated the same as anyone else with an iphone.

but in the US, i’ve never seen a folding phone anywhere in public. cause imessage is THAT important.

yeah, i’m kinda intrigued…i’ve really been wanting to buy an android phone. i really prefer it, but i need imessage. i wish apple would just make imessage a paid app for android. they could make a shitload of money. just charge like 1 or 2 bucks/mo and pretty much everybody would pay for it, as long as they have friends/family members with iphones.

but i noticed how vastly different the market share is in europe where people use whatsapp primarily and aren’t locked into the apple ecosystem like they are in the US where we use SMS,. i’m sure apple has done the math and figures they can make more profit by keeping imessage an apple exclusive service, rather than opening it up even as a paid service.

i REALLY hope that Gen Z gets mad about apple’s monopoly of messaging in america and decides they wanna use whatsapp, or signal, or literally any other messaging service. i really wanna go back to android. it sucks being locked into using an iphone JUST because everyone i know uses imessage and i wanna be able to send high quality photos and text/call easily. outside the country. i wish apple played better with android. but nooooo they have to be super exclusive.

I had a Galaxy s10e, the smaller version of the s10 a few years ago, and it was a flagship phone at the time, i loved it. still have it as a backup phone. i dunno how many times dipshits with an iphone 6 or some cracked up pos iphone whatever would act like my s10 was shitty just because it was android. but they were literally using a 4yr old phone that had the front and back glass cracked. that blue message makes people feel like they’re fuckin royalty or something.
