They compared a 100w 40gb/s thunderbolt to a charging cable usb-c. I can’t believe no one in that whole production team say anything. This is embarrassing. Waste of resources and FAKE NEWS.

I had a friend in college that would get incredibly worked up over mundane details like this. He would argue until red in the face over shit that entirely misses the point of the subject matter.

OP really reminds me of him. Like… we know they’re different things. Adam Savage and the folks at Lumafield know they’re different things. They picked what they did because showing two similar technologies would make for a boring video, they’re meant to be different things.

Like… the dude I went to college with ended up dealing with stupidly high blood pressure and having a stroke at 35… try to calm down and take a breather… it’s not worth getting this worked up over something so insignificant.

Okay, just watched the video and I don’t see the problem with this? It’s comparing two different technologies that from a regular person’s POV looks identical apart from the price.

How do you not see that they are comparing a data cable to a charging cable?! This is WILD! They should have compared two usb-c data cables that is also rated for 100w and passes 40gbs. Instead they compared a data cable to a charging cable. Having the same ends on the cable doesn’t mean the cables are the same. How do you not know this?

You’ve been told a dozen times by a dozen different people. A lot of people just see that Apple is selling a cable that can be used to charge their device for $130. Not a lot of people know the difference between an expensive cable and a cheap cable and this is informative. More so, this video is a tech demo on their scanning of the cables. This video was made for two purposes. One to scan cables and show their interworking. The second is to generate clicks. You keep looking for some deep meaning and you’re missing the point. You are the only person trying to manufacture outrage.

You’d think here would’ve been at least one cheaper third party thunderbolt cable like Anker’s there, but I don’t think they even brought up the fact that it IS a thunderbolt cable and not just another usb-c charging cable.

I came across this at the end of the video, and it was far more informative.

Yes exactly. Look at the people here commenting. They are so clueless and eat up garbage misinformation like Sunday dinner. It’s a shame. And when someone like me does a post they downvote so no one gets the information they need.

    Waste of resources?

My guy it’s a YouTube channel, it’s not being funded by your tax dollars.

Also they were showing how much technology goes into the thunderbolt cable versus a standard type c cable.

That… really wasn’t the point of the video. It - like the other CT-Scan comparisons - are all comparing something expensive with something cheap.

The last one I saw was a MacBook Pro power brick with a cheap counterfeit one.
