Bears are going to lose on Sunday and people are going to lose their minds blaming Fields. Some delusional meatheads will even be clamoring to put Bagent back in. But let’s take a step back and look at the big picture.
-
Bagent got two wins in four games against dogshit teams. The Lions are legit and are the best team the Bears have played since the Vikings, but more realistically since the Chiefs.
-
Fields has been out for a month. Any player will have cobwebs after being out that long.
-
The coaching staff is still dogshit, too. They will find a way to fuck it up in the second half. Or more realistically, they will do nothing different in the second half at which point the Lions will have the Bears completely figured out.
And for all the Caleb Williams stans out there, this is all you need to know to realize he’s not the answer because any NFL defense is better than every NCAA defense. Just admit that JF1 has only played for HCs and OCs who don’t deserve to coach at a JuCo. Every QB would suck ass under these coaches.
It’s an “any given week” league. Detroit’s defense isnt that great. Bears running game, especially with Fields back, should be able to grind out some long drives and control the clock and make it closer than people think. I say that is what should happen. More likely that we are going to get 37 screen passes and lose 35-9 with our coaching staff
As far as Fields goes, I don’t think any one game between now and the end of the year is going to make or break it for him. There is no reason to not look at the body of work as a whole.
Detroit’s rushing defense is allowing the 6th fewest Yards per Attempt.
Neither team is likely to be able to run a bunch (and if either teams O-line is likely to crack the other team’s D-line, it would be the Lions’ rolling over the Bears’) and then it will be Jared Goff and the Lions receivers at home in their cozy dome where they are awesome vs. Fields and the Bears’ passing game.
I bet I know who wins that matchup.
