There needs to be a major update to Siri, it can barley do anything

The OPs complaint seems to have stemmed from Siris inability to discern what time they wanted from their somewhat vague request and responded with a helpful prompt to be more specific their request so they can get the answer they wanted.

Could Siri have used some personal information about the requestor to give a more accurate answer, first time? Probably.

Would being able to use personal information about a requestor in order to complete a request be considered a privacy concern, hence something Apple has consciously avoided doing? Also, probably.

I’ll admit that Siri does have a lot of room for improvement if it’s to complete with other voice assistants but to do that it would have to compromise on some of the privacy principles that underpin a lot of Apple’s software development.

So there are bound to be some trade-offs when using a privacy-focussed voice assistant vs the alternatives. Personally, I’ll happily accept the trade-offs. But not everyone here is going to feel the same way. 🤷‍♂️

Which probably goes some way to explain why Siri does a good job of controlling a home but not a lot else. 😅

        That’s your subjective opinion.

Siri does 95% percent of what we need it to in our house, all without being spied on or marketed to.

My siri works fine. Like the person above commented why not just ask what time is it in NY. For instance if I wanted to know the time for pacific time, I would just say "Siri what time is it in LA or some western city.
