but i am still using the same old apps i used 5 years ago. it also seems we don’t have or need many new fun apps. but the apps still become slowly over time on the old phone, even though they only have the old same features.

the camera is the only thing that’s really surprising. especially at night.

I’ve had mine for just under a month and I’m considering returning it. It’s better in every way compared to my Xr, but there are some things I’ve noticed that I’m disappointed with:

    1. The battery life does not seem to be as good as I thought it would be. It blows my xr out of the water, as it should, but when I first got it, I felt like I easily got over a day without needing to charge with heavy usage .However it feels like it drains much quicker than it should. It’s advertised as 29 hours of video playback, and perhaps I don’t know what that means. But I’d assume I’d only need to charge every 1.5 days up to 2 days. My last 10 days average usage is 6 h 24 m and screen idle average is 1 h 30 m per day with tiktok(I need to delete that app) being 45% and Reddit 16%. I also turned off always on screen. It’s not so much that I’m concerned with battery life today but 3-4 years later as I tend to try to get the most out of these phones.

    2. It gets so hot charging with MagSafe it’s kinda concerning. Also the apple MagSafe cords need at least an extra foot added to the length.

    3. Small odd little bugs. Taking a screen shot and sharing especially to instagram will result in it sorta freezing. It’s easy to just restart the app, but that worked flawlessly on the iPhone. Easy but kinda annoying workaround is saving screenshot and uploading via picture upload button.

3a. I have Apple TV and I like using it as a remote but it will get wonky sometimes such as it will connect and buttons like play will work, but I can’t move around the menu to select different apps.

    1. The cost of accessories. I went out and bought 2 MagSafe chargers, 2 20w adapters and a 2 meter USB-C charging cable. Total cost was $150. I ended up returning all but one MagSafe charger and adapter because it seemed like too much money to spend.

There are a lot of little things that make me really like it and I definitely want to keep it. But I question in my current financial state if it’s worth it to be spending as much as I do in payments each month plus a protection plan, which has doubled my monthly cost.
