I’ve always been a Trestman defender. I’m not calling him perfect, but he didn’t stand a chance to begin with. The defense didn’t have his respect because the new GM fired Lovie, Brian Urlacher left, and the Tampa 2 defense was becoming outdated. He was an easy push-over, but he tried his best to gain the team’s respect. Trestman may not be HC material, but he’s pretty good at being an OC. Before the Bears, every QB he’s worked with improved with him calling the plays and designing the schemes. The Bears even had the best offense in the franchise’s history in 2013 with him at the helm of the offense. The problem is that the defense couldn’t force a 3-and-out to save their life. Trestman was put in an awful situation from the beginning.
