Ever since WatchOS 10 the music app has felt completely incomprehensible to me and just so annoying.

From my watch face it used to be two clicks for me to turn on my favorite playlist as long as my AirPods were in my ears.

Now, I have to first figure out which device the AirPods are connected to, if they’re already connected to your phone, they won’t witch over to you watch for some reason. When I click on my playlist it doesn’t just shuffle automatically, I have to tap a tiny button in the top right and scroll down to find the shuffle button.

The same thing goes for when you want to look at the upcoming songs, it used to be one click. Now it’s like three and you have to scroll to even get there. And once you’ve got the list up you can’t just bring it down by pressing the crown, you have to actually swipe down which can be really annoying on such a small screen.

The update also drains battery like crazy. If I’ve been listening to music, my series 4 will not make it to the afternoon. On watchOS 9 it could go all day and still have enough battery to track my sleep.

The biggest selling point of Apple Music for me was the fact that it worked so well with my watch but right now I’m considering switching to Spotify.

Man the frustrations just keep coming with this wOS 10 upgrade! I tried apple music briefly before I had a watch, and did enjoy the HiFi/Spatial Audio features compared to Spotify, but everything else kept me coming back to Spotify.

Even if this doesn’t directly affect me, WOWZA I am glad both my S4 & S7 are still on wOS 9!

Same! My Series 7 is hard-locked to wOS 8 because I’m still using an iPhone 7. I used to think I would miss out on cool features and such, but it sure sounds like I’m on the greener side of the wOS 10 pasture—even if it’s not really my choice.

Kinda hard to say after some of the major battery issues have been fixed, some people say they prefer some of the design changes, and others who are newer to Apple Watch (apparently Ultra is a HUGE seller, bringing lots of new AW wearers, and considering the only change they made to the 2 from 1 was S9 chip with double tap, I can see the point of the article I read that sales are perhaps driven by the “luxury/status” perception of the most expensive option) don’t know much about previous OS interface/interactions, so they just learn their muscle memory when interacting with watch based on OS 10, so they are happy too! Until some major feature they got used to changes with wOS 15 😅

    Like\love a track. 3 f’in taps.

Spotify has the easiest watch app UI for music IMHO. You should try it and use a music transfer service to move your playlists and liked songs. Both services have trials for like 3 months or something available if you look for your country.

I like how when a media is playing, whether it’s music on my phone or a movie on my apple TV, a widget automatically appears when I scroll down my watch face and can play pause there, or tap it to open the Now Playing screen.

Well, I really like some design changes and now playing screen, but some things you mentioned are really annoying. I also have a hard time figuring out whether the music is actually playing from the watch or from my phone. I think I found the right way to switch to playing music from the watch but it’s buried many taps away in the music app…

I have to say the Music App is the best thing in watchOS in general and tbh as someone who hated the stupid changes in watchOS10, the ones done to the Music App is the only silver lining to having installed the disastrous watchOS10

I love the Music App and I love it even more now 🤷‍♂️
