I am looking to get an Apple Watch and I can’t decide whether or not to get the series 8 (or lower) vs the 9. The older series are much cheaper but the series 9 with the finger tap looks super cool, and I like that it’s much brighter. I was wondering what this sub would think.
I know I’ll use it a lot regardless of which version I get. The series 9 features are just tempting to me.
I’d get an S9 just for future proofing. That faster processor enables not just double-tap but offline Siri processing, and you can be virtually guaranteed that a few years from now, Apple will be designing with the S9’s speed in mind. The S6, S7, and S8 all use the same processor tech, essentially, with some modest tweaks.
Don’t get me wrong - you’d probably be delighted with an S8. You should also be considering non-Apple watches if you’re mainly concerned with fitness, music, and/or notifications. A Garmin Forerunner will blow away any Apple Watch when it comes to battery life, for example.
