Basically every welfare check story I hear is either “person was fine and the check was in effect harrassment” or “police presence escalated the situation to a potentially or ultimately lethal extent.”

      There’s some selection bias there.

Welfare checks are common. A cop checked on my grandma, who lived ~500 mi awa from me, any time I was concerned about her not responding to my calls. No questions asked. I’m sure there are similar requests made all the time, you just don’t hear about them.

Worst interpretation its just an extra insulting way, best interpretation I can think of is they phrased it like that since he apparently had social media accounts that he posted the images to with the persona of a trans woman, so in literal terms he was dressing as a trans woman.

only the person in question can decide that, and the person in question can’t be consulted anymore. Was the person in drag, or was the person trans? We can’t know. The person committed suicide because reactionaries targeted a private part of their life. They were outed but what precisely they were outed as is impossible to know, since both people who dress in drag and trans people are targeted by reactionary violence, either explanation can serve to explain the suicide. Maybe more details will come forward in the form of a note, etc. Maybe not.

I mean, admittedly all I have to go off of is the screenshots in the original article which may be fabricated, but I don’t think I’ve seen anyone disputing that and the social media is scrubbed so I can’t verify that either. But based on that, she is self-describing as a trans woman, and not for nothing, both the articles and the pictures I’ve seen of her (including boymode) make it seem like she’s been on HRT for a while. Overweight middle aged white guys in Alabama don’t tend to have skin that smooth.

Obviously cishet article writers are gonna ignore all that or just play the “well there’s no way to know” card, but I don’t care to. It’s not cis until proven trans.

          Maybe, I dont know.

I guess if its a matter of respect then the final statements made about it are that he just viewed it as a hobby to destress, that he’d been doing it with the knowledge and consent/participation of his wife and since he was young and presumably would have had the private support for transitioning if that was the case.

Its not something I’m eager to speculate on beyond that.

Considering the purposeful misinformative hate campaign that conservatives are running I feel like we don’t have enough solid information to determine that. What I can say is that it all seemes very sad.

Nominative determinism aside, that’s Greek tragedy levels of sad. In a better world they’d not have been warped by chuddery to the point they felt they had to do this.

The really sad thing is, they probably would have been accepted by the community still.

Conservative communities can be vicious if you’re an lgbt teen, but are surprisingly accepting when it’s a respected member of the community that they’d have to ostracise and the outing is being done by some asshole outsider rag.

EDIT: changed to neutral gender pronouns since we don’t know their internal identity.

It’s hard to know. Sometimes they’ll bend over backwards to support someone they’ve always considered part of the family, change their minds ot make an exception for one of their own, but other times even the “supportive” people are only supportive insofar that they’ll forgive you if you stop being queer. They called her actions “unbiblical” so who knows. She was being pursued by cops in the end, so that probably escalated matters.

Being chased by an armed gang that hates the thing you’re having a mental crisis with rarely helps matters.

I like to think there’s enough of a vestige of Alabama Communalism left to make them embrace him, but it’s hard to know as you say.

Is this a website with a major focus on men being non heterosexual? Look at the suggested atricles.

I highly reccomend the Seeking Derrangements episodes about randy mcnally. It is a lot less bleak than this story.

Randy was outed by pro lgbt people who wanted to draw attention to his hypocrisy on taking action against lgbt people to hopefully stop it. He is still alive and pretty nuch fine but living a bit more honestly.

Bubba was outed by what seems like anti lgbt people. After being the target of revenge porn and harassment, bubba either shot themselves or was executed by the police. So the dirtbags got a prize: dead queer. An example for others.

some internet atheist blogger did some digging to find evidence of ted haggard-like hypocrisy and couldn’t find any:

    https://www.friendlyatheist.com/p/does-this-drag-loving-trans-pretending

tho I don’t like that the author thinks it’s clear that copeland was “pretending” when it seems possible that he was experiencing real gender incongruence and just didn’t feel able to identify as a woman outside of an online persona

I think it’s pretty fucking shitty to make that comparison. Unless the entire story is totally fabricated, it seems pretty likely to me that this was a closeted trans woman living her life in chud central. Is there any evidence she perpetuated any significant hate towards queer people? Because unless you can (and even if so tbh), it seems like you’re just victim blaming a queer person for trying to survive in a small Alabama town, and ultimately failing.

Are you serious? From what I can tell, she met Donald Trump because “a deadly storm pummeled the area” in 2019. I’m not trying to deny that she was a prominent member of her very conservative community, but she did not “choose” to be born there as a trans woman. She chose to live her life and survive while participating in the community she was born into. I’m sorry if I don’t think that’s enough to call her an SS officer who fucking deserved to die.

Actually, I’m not sorry. Go fuck yourself.

It seems like a more accurate comparison would be SS officer whom we haven’t proven personally did crimes, which is still pretty bad.

But putting completely aside whether her actions or associations were evil enough to warrant whatever, I agree with you this situation is still awful, because it’s just chuds indirectly killing someone for being trans. They sure didn’t target her for hypocrisy or whatever bad republican shit she supported. They just see it as a trans person they got to drive to suicide, nothing more.

It just feels weird to insist on painting some random dead trans woman as an SS officer. Look, I’m not going to sit here and pretend like it’s impossible that she had terrible political opinions. But it’s not impossible that she didn’t, she was just the mayor of a city with a population of 6,500. I think at that level it’s still possible to just be a normal person, but idk.

Yeah, I agree. I’m sure in the 30’s people in a podunk German mountain village were like oh, we need a sheriff to go keep the 3 drunks from fighting over their second cousin, ok looks like that’s called the “Gestapo” now, I guess Friedrich is our town Gestapo officer, and there wouldnt really be much to hold against them

The whole point of that article is that there’s no evidence she actually did contribute to those policies. You’re literally just doing the team sports we mock libs for, I highly doubt you’d be celebrating a trans woman’s outing and suicide if she was blue.

I’m sure she had bad politics, she probably wasn’t a leftist by any stretch, but most of the awful, horrid shit this monstrous system does is to people who are not perfect victims. She died because chuds killed her, so quit cheering with the chuds.

Jesus Christ, it doesn’t seem like based on the article pillow linked, that they even preached anti-trans stuff and didn’t push for it while in office. There doesn’t seem to be a particularly good reason why they were outed beyond the continued push to destroy all trans and gender non-conforming people. It’s not like we’re looking at Kenneth Copeland getting outed for being caught in a porta-potty with 3 dudes.
